Project: Church
Wilne WTW
End Client: Severn Trent Water
Industry:
Water and Waste Treatment
Church Wilne WTW is a major water treatment works located
in the peak district national park. This site treats approximately
120MLD of water, which is fed into the Derwent Valley Aqua
duct.
In 2003 Saftronics were asked to implement a new GAC plant
on this site. This involved the supply of 9 SLC 5/04 PLCs
to control the GAC plant. The plant was also equipped with
a new RSView32 SCADA system to provide a high functionality
operator interface.
 |
In order to allow the new plant status information
to be displayed on the site SCADA system we also extended
on of the existing DataHighway+ networks on the site
to incorporate the new PLCs.
In 2004 Saftronics were asked to provide plant control
systems for the Kalic and Acid plants on this site.
This involved adding 2 further SLC5/04 PLCs onto an
Existing DataHighway+ network each fitted with a Mitsubishi
HMI.
|
In late 2004 Saftronics were asked to review the old GAC
plant on this site because the control system was unreliable
and provided a poor operator interface. After we concluded
our review we were asked to re-write the PLC code and provide
a better HMI. Saftronics implements a full PLC re-write,
installed an RSView32 SCADA HMI and implemented an improved
interface to the site SCADA system.
In late 2005 Saftronics were asked to assist with numerous
signal information provision improvements for the site.
This involves the installation of 4 new SLC5/04 PLCs. Saftronics
also provided a technical solution to the slow site SCADA
system performance by proposing a state-of-the-art communications
hub into the main control room thus eliminating all data
bottlenecks on the site networks.
Saftronics have now supplied or amended over 70% of the PLCs
on this site and as a result of our efforts made significant
improvements to the plant control. |
