This major UK airline recently opened a new £4.3 billion terminal with 96 check-in kiosks to handle 30 million passengers a year. The baggage handling system had to be designed to move baggage swiftly and efficiently to the aircraft ready for prompt departure, and to minimise waiting time for baggage on landing.

Saftronics designed, built and delivered a total of 18 LV switchboards which provide power to the entire baggage handling system as well as the arrivals and departure areas of the terminal. We delivered this complex and highly sophisticated solution in advance of the contract completion date enabling early testing of the system in readiness for the opening of the terminal in 2007.
