Measuring and Benchmarking our Carbon Footprint

Saftronics recognise that any credible action intended to cut our carbon footprint must start from an informed position, therefore we have chosen to quantify our carbon footprint and set targets for ongoing reduction.


We have measured our carbon footprint to an acknowledged and widely accepted standard and have chosen to benchmark environmental performance.

 

Since 1999 The Yorkshire and Humber Environment Index has been enabling organisations to measure and benchmark their environmental management and performance.


The index assesses participants’: strategy, integration of strategy into their operations, environmental management and their performance in reducing their negative impacts on the environment.

For Saftronics, the decision to take part provides a means to benchmark our performance against others while focusing on areas that will help us to reduce our carbon footprint.


In 2011 93 organisations took part and Saftronics was delighted to gain recognition as one of the highest new entrants. In the 2012 results we have continued the trend, being classified as 'Significant Improvers' and moving into the Bronze performance band.
