Bankell Treated Water Pumping Station

Scottish Water has invested £30 million in improving water services for thousands of customers by changing the water supply source from Burncrooks Water Treatment Works in West Stirlingshire to Milngavie Water Treatment Works in East Dunbartonshire.

The new Treated Water Pumping Station at Bankell Service Reservoir has been constructed as part of four key components of the Burncrooks WTW Quality THM Compliance Project. The new pumping station structure at Bankell, contracted by Caledonia Water Alliance, is located on managed grasslands in an agricultural style building with the intention of minimising landscape and visual impact. The pumping station operates with three 400kW Duty/Assist/Standby pumps. As part of the CWA contract, Saftronics have been responsible for supplying a Motor Control Centre and developing the system Software. The completed MCC is from the Saftronics WS Range, which has been designed according to WIMES standards and is fully compliant with BS EN 61439-1/2.
