As the factory at Taylors of Harrogate had expanded dramatically over time, the engineering team had growing concerns over the quality of the power being provided to the site. They contacted the team here at Saftronics to see if there was anything we could do to help.
Our first step was to carry out a power quality survey which revealed that power factor correction and harmonic mitigation was required. This was simple enough for us to resolve, but Taylors have an extremely high rate of production and the power source in question supplied both production and administration sites. Any interruption to the power would be felt on a huge scale.
Therefore, we designed and produced a set of P.F.C and harmonic filter panels which would resolve their issues, and scheduled the installation to take place over the weekend, in order to reduce impact.
We delivered and installed the panels on time and on budget. There was minimal impact on production as requested, but more importantly, a post-installation survey proved that the power quality issues had been resolved.
