The Environment Agency’s MEICA Graduates visited Saftronics in Leeds as part of their training programme. The graduates were given an insight into the design, manufacture and assembly of Motor Control Centres as well as the various control and automation equipment that interfaces with it. Innospec began working with Saftronics in 2017 after some issues with our previous supplier of LV switchboards. The installation at Runswick Bay Lower sps was the last of three upgrades to three high profile pumping stations all of which are situated on the east coast, the other two been Staithes sps and Robin Hoods Bay sps. All the pumps at three pumping stations are now controlled via variable speed drives which have been installed in place of troublesome soft start units. Saftronics engineers carried out all of the work from design to install. There were challenges to each installation as pump sets had to remain available at all times to avoid any possible pollution incidents. The staff from Saftronics managed the schemes with a high level of professionalism and understanding which made the work involved run smoothly from start to finish and we have already seen a decline in failures at all three pump stations.
